Nothing has changed

It has been really quiet lately. Which is good, because it has given me time to get some hunting in, check that - ALOT of hunting in. It is also bad because you know sooner or later you will pay for it.

I'm changed

There are few things experienced in this job that leaves more of an impact on you than losing a pt. I've lost probably just as many as any other medic out there. You can lose a pt to anything, heart disease, cancer, COPD, sub-dural bleeds, respiratory arrest... well, you get the picture. When you lose a pt to trauma, however, it changes you. Surface to mass ratio, pyrolysis, and Barbie bikes...

I went into Station 1 today with strict orders from my wife, if there is a vacation spot open, take it. When I got to work, I shaved, ate breakfast, and listened to what the off going crew had done during the shift. A car accident, a fire alarm, and an unknown type of alarm going off at a local fast food establishment within 5 min of one another. Fire trucks were scrambling all over the city at 2 am. The Guys At The Station Wrote This For My Boyfriend Lol.

We are very dedicated to our work. We wear firefighter shirts everyday, even when we're not on duty. The fire department is our second home, and our second family. Fire Chief/Fire Fighter Anthony J. Kochutin

I Blogged last (February 5th. to be exact) on "How do you know when it's getting too hot when you are inside a fire building"? I extend the question!

Rookie's and Veteran's

As a fire service instructor over the years I have met a lot of fellow firefighters and not until recently did I realize the stories from these firefighters were always the same from rookies and veterans. The rookies always say “we don’t fit in” and the veterans always say “ the rookies just don’t get it”.
