Nominations Requested for The 2009 Ray Downey Courage and Valor Medal and $35,000 Cash Award

Fellow brothers and sisters because the Ray Downey Courage and Valor award is so special to the Fire Engineering family and to all of the FDIC faithful, I felt it important to make a a special request of all of the members of the fire engineering training community to consider nominating a worthy candidate. Please watch the video by Ray Downey's sons Battalion Chiefs Chuck and Joe, and then go to the link for the Courage and Valor award nomination form and nominate someone from your organization who is deserving. The award brings with it a $35,000 cash prize to the individual who is selected.

The Ray Downey courage and valor award represents the highest achievement in the American fire service. To receive an award in chief Downey's name commemorating the legacy of his unparalleled career is truly the honor a lifetime. I know several of you have had firefighters in your organizations or perhaps you yourself who are deserving of this recognition. Please do not let this opportunity to nominate someone from your organization go by. There could be no greater failing and failing to recognize greatness.

The online nomination form can be found on the left-hand side of this page under courage and valor nomination form
