The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) has received notice of the following firefighter fatality:

It is in great sadness, that we as a Brotherhood, post the 25th Line Of Duty Death for 2016 from the United States Fire Administration. Fellow Brother Firefighter John Morris Davis, Jr. has made the ultimate sacrifice in love for their fellow man. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends and our Brothers & Sisters with the Kenly Volunteer Fire Department.

Incident Description: Firefighter Davis responded to a motor vehicle accident and assisted other responders with extrication of one occupant. After completion, Davis experienced chest pains. Johnston County EMS started treatment. While in route to the hospital, Davis went into cardiac arrest. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and Firefighter Davis succumbed to his injury.
