The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) has received notice of the following firefighter fatality: KS

It is in great sadness, that we as a Brotherhood, post the 11th Line Of Duty Death for 2016 from the United States Fire Administration. Fellow Brother Firefighter & Assistant Fire Chief Daniel F. Cool has made the ultimate sacrifice in love for their fellow man. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends and our Brothers & Sisters with the Jefferson County Fire Department- Kaw Fire District #1.

Incident Description: Assistant Fire Chief Cool responded to an emergency incident on the morning of February 11th. Later that day, he attended a training meeting and collapsed suddenly from a heart attack. Chief Cool was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS, where he succumbed to his injury early in the morning of February 14th.
