The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) has received notice of the following firefighter fatality: NY

It is in great sadness, that we as a Brotherhood, post the 78th Line Of Duty Death for 2014 from the United States Fire Administration. Fellow Brother Firefighter James Foote has made the ultimate sacrifice in love for their fellow man. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends and our Brothers & Sisters with the Summit Fire Department.

Incident Description: Upon returning inside of the station to get warm after cutting down two trees on the fire department grounds, Firefighter Foote fell ill and collapsed. Medical assistance was provided by fellow responders and Foote was transported to Cobleskill Hospital where he later passed away of a heart attack.
