It is in great sadness, that we as a Brotherhood, post the 86th Line Of Duty Death for 2013 from the United States Fire Administration. Fellow Brother Firefighter Leroy Murphy Jr. has made the ultimate sacrifice in love for their fellow man. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends and our Brothers & Sisters with the Gettysburg Rural Fire Department.

Incident Description: Firefighter Murphy responded to a fire call involving farm equipment while on duty with the Gettysburg Rural Fire Department. The following morning, Murphy fell ill while teaching at a local fire academy. Firefighter Murphy was treated and transported to the hospital but passed away a short while later from an embolism.
