The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) has received notice of the following firefighter fatality: NC

It is in great sadness, that we as a Brotherhood, post the 84th Line Of Duty Death for 2013 from the United States Fire Administration. Fellow Brother Firefighter & Captain David Heath has made the ultimate sacrifice in love for their fellow man. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends and our Brothers & Sisters with the New Hanover County Fire Rescue.

Incident Description: While participating in a department training exercise, Captain David Heath collapsed from an apparent cardiac event. Although fire rescue personnel immediately performed CPR, applied a defibrillator and administered advance life support measures, Captain Heath passed away.
