Where firefighters come to talk training

We live and work in an information age. It's easy to create, capture, and control information. This includes video that can be generated on even the simplest cell phone. Such technology has been around for awhile now the Rodney King incident happened more than 20 years ago and it has made life more challenging for public safety workers.

Your actions will end up on You Tube or one of the many video or picture sharing sites. Before acting you must stop and think. If your actions end up on You Tube or the front page of the newspaper, what will the court of public opinion say?

Beware, video and still cameras are every where and only show a very small piece of the "action". But, this small piece that will be shown over and over can cost you your career and your agency millions of dollars. Thats not even scratching the surface on the civil lawsuit. Yes, civil lawsuit where they come after us personally for our actions.

Maintaining professionalism in the information age; Watch the video, we can all assume of the scene just prior and before the cuffs were put in place. We have all been there and know how this plays out. But, the media doesn't show that piece. This is all that the court of public opinion sees and responds to.
