The United States Fire Administration (USFA) has received notice of the following firefighter fatality: PA

It is with great sadness and deep regret that I post the third firefighter death in lesss than a week from my home state of PA. USFA official line of duty death announcement of fellow brother firefighter Richard Springman. Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and the members of the Trout Run Volunteer Fire Co.

Incident Description: Firefighter Springman was responding in his personal vehicle to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Route 15 when his truck reportedly struck a guardrail and crashed. Firefighter Springman was ejected from his vehicle and passed away from injuries sustained in the accident.

Incident Location: US Hwy 15 @ Powys Curve in Lewis Township, PA.

To date, 44 firefighter fatalities have been reported to USFA in 2010; 42 from incidents that occurred in 2010 and 2 from previous year incidents.
