Where firefighters come to talk training

Virginia Task Force One Makes Its First Rescue

The Virginia task force one has its boots on the ground and they are already making a difference. Our brave fellow firefighters and the other members of Virginia task force one hit the ground running and have made a rescue! We your fire engineering are so proud of all of the USAR teams. Having participated a long time ago in the early days of the USAR program I am keenly aware of how much time and energy is required of these fantastic people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women connected to these teams who are now serving such inspired work. Our good friend Dave Stater from Stater 911 has some fantastic news coverage on his site. We thank Dave for this link:

From Virginia Task Force 1 was able to free a man from the collapsed UN building in Port au Prince, Haiti this morning. Lt. Mike Davis of the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department says the victim was under three floors of concrete and assisted in his own rescue, using a Sawzall to dismantle a chair.
