I am honored to be drawing on another USO tour in the next few weeks, so I will not be posting again until mid-September. Please keep my cartoonists brothers, and all our active, wounded, and retired warriors in your thoughts and prayers.
For my close…

If you're not thinking forward, you are already behind! Difference makers prepare and shape their future by always thinking of innovative ways to accomplish a goal. So, are you a progressive thinker, or a complacent wallflower?
Always make a…

What good is having all your experience and knowledge if you never share it. My guess is you had someone in your career that shared their knowledge with you - return the favor. Teach, share, and pay it…

Many cities are feeling the economic pinch of poor budget management or simply bad economic luck. Whichever the case may be, some city managers are pointing fingers at everyone else, of course, for their plight. This cartoon is not stating that some public employee unions are blameless, because in part, they are (that's why they are in the car and not standing along…

I could say many things about this cartoon and my personal experiences, but I am going to give this space up for a friend who is following the noble calling of helping firefighters save ourselves, so we may continue to save others. Sarah Gura and I found each other online, and I must say from my perspective, it was like fate stepping in to say "Hey, it's time to…

Let's see a show of hands (metaphorically speaking) - who has a suit of armor that will protect them from almost any accident, catastrophe, or evil genius? Anyone? ...I didn't think so! However, how many of us will take on preventable risks with the same brazen carelessness and complacency as if we're wearing a cape, or a bright red titanium suit?
This is…

Does PowerPoint make the instructor, or does the instructor make the learning experience? Don't get me wrong, PowerPoint is a wonderful tool and a great visual aid, but when you lean on technology and slides too much, the only thing being taught is that you don't know your material well enough to expand beyond the slides.
PowerPoint is a tool, and just a tool -…

I have to admit, with the horrific events of this past week (and the ongoing drama) and the current political turbulence around the country, I NEED the FDIC more than ever to recharge my batteries and renew my sense of being. I want to reunite with cherished friends and meet new ones. I want to know that the world has not gone completely insane and there is a place…

In the aftermath of yesterday's cowardly act of terrorism in Boston, and as the injury report began to rise, I could only think about how much worse this violent act could have been if not for the quick action of Boston F.D., P.D., EMS, and U.S. National Guard. As I sat and watched the same horrific images over and over, my thoughts, prayers, and empathy were for our…

First, let me say that I am a supporter of the Second Amendment and our constitutional right as citizens to bear arms - so, calm down now before you read any further, I don't want your guns! That being said, I am not a supporter of any hypothesis where firefighters and first-responders are armed. I am not a cop, nor do I want to be! Law-enforcement is a highly…
