As an officer, I put a ton of pressure on myself to be wiser, smarter, and more experienced than I was yesterday - to lead by example. Unfortunately, all this studying, training, and preparing can take up much of your free time during the course of the day and it's all too easy to say "I'll workout tomorrow." When tomorrow comes, well, you do it again. I'm guilty!
What's the point of being mentally prepared if you're not physically able to implement what you've prepared for? Again, I'm guilty! I preach fitness... fall into the tomorrow trap... snap out of it... workout like a demon... then repeat! Frustrating? Yes! Productive? Absolutely not! However, unlike some, I keep trying to get it right.
Officers are human, but we have a duty to lead our people to be the best they can possibly be, which starts with us being the best we can be first. Be human, but be honest with yourself, too!
STAY FIRED UP, and don't be an Officer Do'little!
