Are Pistol grips really that bad?

I have heard things from pistol grips are junk, they instill bad habits, they are the devil, pistol grips are for firearms only. But in all honesty are they really that bad?I say no, there not bad. To be honest with you I like them on my nozzles, yet I dont even use them unless its for a defensive operation. So why all the negativity towards pistol grips? The above video is a great example of what we should be doing with our nozzles, and he also covers why we shouldn’t use pistol grips to handle…See More

"Instructors need to lead by example as much as or even more than company officers! We are the first to influence the new guys, and first impressions are critical! If you're going to teach it the right way to them, then do it the right way…"

Do as I say not as I do.

That title is so true to the fire service.I mean let’s think about it. Probie school, we are told wear all your turnouts, how to wear them etc. Yet the same guys telling the probies this are wearing SCBA's without the waist straps on. I don’t know about you, but to me that is a double standard.Or the one I love. Live training burns and you’re told to be on air, yet the instructors are breathing room air. Maybe there’s a clause that once your teaching classes or leading you don’t have to…See More

"Chris: Chowing down on someone's mistakes has been around since that first call for mutual aid went out. That was well before the explosion of social media. Not only did social media send it world wide, but with supersonic speed. Back in my…"

Are we any different than the news crews

You know I recall seeing a Paul Combs picture of a news lady showing the one thing that went wrong. And theres always firefighters dogging the news for ridiculing fire departments for mishaps on the fire seane.Yet I can find lots of Youtube videos where firefighters are bashing departments for the same things that news crews point out. In short we are doing the same thing that the news crews are doing! There are times I scroll thru some pages on Facebook and the pages are great for learning…See More
