Where firefighters come to talk training

Okay.......2013 is around the corner!! What do you feel will be the biggest problem with the narrowbanding coming from the FCC? Are you active with your Emergency Management, 911 Centers, Interoperability Groups, etc. Are you looking at interoperable communications grants to support programing, radio equipment, and or towers/infrastructure? Are you even APCO 25 compliant in any fashsion?

A big problem a I see it is new technology forced upon us by the federal govt or state governments without providing the funding. That is a big problem here in Alaska. Another big problem as I see it form the standpoint of a dispatcher is "next generation 911" new technology concepts without proper planning.
Is there alot of push there for NEXT GEN 911? I do know there is alot of talk going on here in Michigan....The TELCOS are getting very antsy and wanting to get their paws in the IP network by expanding in to cell, ISP, and the like. Do you have any APCO 25 Radio systems in use there now? Anything that can be expanded and/or upgraded? Is the state and/or localized Emergency Management working on these issues via Homeland Security grant programs?
