Where firefighters come to talk training

For you winter folk - snowmachine (snowmobile) driver training - any programs out?

Folks,

Alaska has a well earned reputation for the snow and cold, but I am wondering if our rescue efforts in those environments, and the training to get our rescuers safely to snowbound rescue sites are in tune with others across the country.  IF any of you have a snowmachine / snowmobile based off-road rescue entity, how do you driver train your crews to handle the machines in a safe manner, prior to heading out into the great outdoors?  I have seen programs that do great service to the other parts of off road rescue in the winter, including good gps skills, patient care in extreme temps, land nav, etc.  But what about the basics of operating and caring for that most important lifeline - the machine that takes you out and back?

Would love to hear what others have done to meet the needs of their crews.

our dept is in Wisconsin. We do not have a snow machine or snowmobile, but we do have a six wheel ATV. The dept of natural resourses has training for snowmobiles, ATV's, boats, hunting etc. I think that is a good place to start and base your training off of and expand from there. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

Thanks Arthur, DNR is a good place to look around, will take a peek
