Company Discussion Series: Building Characteristics

What characteristics could you expect with this building?

Just about every jurisdiction in the country has a building like this one.

These are popular in the older downtown areas, especially in smaller towns and main streets.

Some of you may have fought a fire or two in a building similar to this one or done an inspection at one.

Based on your past experiences and this picture, what are some concerns you may have about this building?

How will those concerns determine your strategies and tactics?

What size lines and what conditions will you be looking for inside?

Bricks on front with step down indicate that this is probably a bow string truss roof.

I believe this to be a parapet wall and a flat roof of cheap construction materials.
I also believe that all of the HVAC is on the roof adding weight.
I believe this to be a fast food joint and not alot of room inside for weight supporting pillars or beams so I am assuming a truss roof of some sort.
I'm expecting, with those big windows that the front is the dining room or counter area and that all of the kitchen equipment is towards the rear of the building.
I am assuming that the rear of the building will have a door that is far more fortified than the front and there are probably no windows on the either side of this structure, at least not any that will grant us access.
A very interesting yet overlooked building indeed but with a good Truck and Eng Co, we can get this one with relative ease, God willing.
