All of the technique in the world does not make up for adequate manpower. If there are enough members on the line and they are placed strategically at all of the critical positions(doorways, steps, corners, etc...) it will make for an easier stretch.

yes, vertical ventilation does work. 4x4 holes can change conditions for the interior members quickly. not all situations call for vertical ventilation. many situations demand horizontal ventilation, but this is where good size up comes into play.

We use a Firehouse program. I am not sure how much it costs but it is the same program that we use to enter or NIFRS reports. We back up the Firehouse program with paper reports as well. the paper reports show the date, start and end times, locati...

Shareef,
Please forgive my lack of knowledge about your relegion. I was reading your post on FIT testing. Would you mind explaining how your religion requires that you have facial hair. I am only asking out of respect and interest, so I hope it received that way. I feel that brotherhood crosses all personal beliefs and creeds. So I would like to understand yours, so I can make a more informed opinion on the FIT testing issue.
Thanks,
Marty

I am currently employeed with a Career FD and a part time FD. I have a beautiful wife and a wonderful daughter and I love them both dearly. I am very committed to the Fire Service and bringing back the traditions of honor, pride, integrity, professionalism, and self sacrifice. I try to do this through teaching younger members and reminding older members who we are, why we do some of the things we do, and how to be a part of a team. My religion(Islam) is of utmost importance to me and I try to bridge cultural gaps and erase ignorance with education and dialogue. My faith provides me with the integrity, bravery, and sense of brotherhood needed to succeed in this profession. I respect all FF's who respect the Fire Service, but I have no tolerance for FF's who disprespect the honor, history, or pride of this profession.
