Initial Attack Athletics!

"There Ain't No Slack in Initial Attack!"

After 6 Seasons with Cal-Fire, and 7 Years of College, I finally said it out-loud.

I want to start a company and an NPO to partner with that provides Fitness, Education, Training and Resources to Wildland Firefighters.

We are Here! And - Here is…

Everything is Cummulative

I am currently an Intern - Strength and Conditioning Coach at Military and Mountain Athlete in Jackson, Wyoming and will be returning to Northern California in September. Upon returning to California, I plan on doing an observational research study on Wildland Firefighters that will be the foundation of future research and what I have been working towards since entering the fire service in 2005.

I want to change the health culture of the fire service in a way that positively affects…

Lesson on the Human Heart

In the wake of this sad week for firefighters, I can't help but feel bewildered by the attitudes of some firefighters.

Two of our brothers and sisters died this week while completing routine training exercises.

While there is no evidence or even speculation that the recent deaths of FDNY-Probie Jamel Spears, 33 and Volunteer-Cecilia Turnbough, 42, for Dale City Fire-VA were in poor physical shape or that a lack of fitness in some way contributed to their death (nor am I implying… Continue

Katy,

The fire service is a tricky business, and I am very glad to see you are carrying on in its proud tradition for your family. You hang in there Sister and just remember that tradition is something that changes slowly, but never give up. Old farts like me will come around it just has to be proven that the change is for the best and not for the sake of change. Old dogs can learn new tricks...LOL! Keep me posted on the firehouse activities please. May you have a very safe and wonderful Thanksgiving as well.

I just read your note, Thank you so much for the kind words. Those kind words of appreciation go a long way for me. My wife smiled as she read your comment with me and understands why I drive 6 hours to teach at COS.
