This week is another retro-SOS from my original first few months. These were pictures only so now that we are broadcasting out to the FE community and in full blog mode I will add some commentary. Again, if you already saw this one I hope you get another laugh or affirmation that you are not alone in your thinking.
The CP, no its not the Command Post its the "Company Punk". This is one who thinks he is larger than the organization, better than you and entitled to anything that he wants. This is usually a mask worn to disguise the inner coward. This person talks tough but when the chips get down can’t perform. They wear all the right patches and have the right accessories but the bottom line is, they are scared of fire (despite the numerous stickers on their helmet stating their lack of fear).
They have knocked you down trying to get out and then boasted about how hot it was inside and how they made the hallway. They have blown their O-ring (on purpose) and then slammed the SCBA against the ground shouting, “This damn department doesn’t have anything that works!” Then after the fire is out they have a story about how they couldn’t go in but they were working hard outside to get the other dumb crews straight. In fact they saved your life because the other guys coming in were going to do something that was going to kill you.
Beware of this guy for he is a company destroyer. He has no character and he won’t think twice about taking a little from the company store, asking if he can catch you next shift for dinner knowing he is off for the next 2. The honor system to him is that you should be honored that he is eating the food you bought for him.
Character is fulltime all the time. If you show your butt demanding ½ price at a restaurant whether on or off duty just because you happened to get a deal once or even every time you have been there……you are a punk and you have no character. You will betray your crew when the opportunity arises because you are all about YOU! Please leave the fire service immediately and get a job as Mall Security!
