Where firefighters come to talk training

I will be attending many fire service events in the coming year and I thought it would be a good idea to keep these special events separate from my monthly commentary blog. On this site you'll see my photos, comments, video, and yes, sketches from my experiences (like FDIC). I will include a post and link on my commentary blog (as well as Facebook) to let folks know when I've posted new content. As always, I sincerely thank you for your continued support and look forward to sharing my experiences with you in 2011.

Take care!

I LOVE PARTIES almost as much as I LOVE FIRES!

So with that said, now all we need is a little encouragement from my buddy and brother from another mother Bobby to convince all of you on how your life will be forever changed by coming to our Alaska State conference here in my neck of the woods in Fairbanks the last week of September!

Scraping my pennies together to get to FDIC!

Oh boy, it's a party! Bobby you are truely the Master, but, you could become an illustration if Paul isn't ungrounded, that sounded poor, oh well, lack of sleep! Art and Mike too, this will be the awesomest ever. Art, I look forward to the Chief Reason knowledge that you have past along to my buddy and yours in Harwich Mass, especially since he'll still be in Mass! Mike France, first round on Chief Halton. Sorry Bobby, it was just there. see everyone there! Jeff

I'll check it out, Chief - thanks for the heads-up! And I'm looking forward to meeting you and Chief Goodrich at FDIC, too.

I can't believe that you mentioned FDIC without mentioning that I have plans to be there.

Some of my best ideas for blogs comes from FDIC.

As you know from meeting me, I am too old to participate in HOT and I am not smart enough to be a presenter, so I just hang out like a reporter looking to get a lucky break and jot down my thoughts for stories.

I might be in the podcast booth; who knows.

But one thing is sure; I plan on seeing you AND Paul Combs there.

So, get the restraining order now.

Dang, Chief! I feel like I've been grounded and sent to my room without supper! :)

I meant fire service events like the FDIC, FDIC classes, Indy night-life, Courage and Valor 5k, various parades (like the Delray Beach, FL St. Patrick's Day parade) and other social events where firefighters gather - and I'm there, of course. I plan to sketch, take photos, and blog about my experiences - and the brothers and sisters that I meet.

Hands down, FDIC is the BEST conference and training opportunity in the land - that's why I keep going and a HUGE reason I came to Fire Engineering. I have a tremendous amount of pride knowing that I am a small part of Fire Engineering's history, and hopefully future.

Now, may I come out of room, have super and go out and play, chief? Pleeeease?  :)

Paul I only have one question "Is there any other fire service "event" besides FDIC worth going to" I mean… seriously. When you think that FDIC has 224 classes, 78 workshops, 18 hands-on training evolutions, the only international fire service instructors workshop, the only conference with 12 internationally taught classes, the combat challenge, the national fallen firefighters annual stop drop rock and roll, the Indy firefighters open house, the fools bash, the first firefighters Battle of the bands with over 25 bands currently entered, the courage and valor 5K fun run, over 1000 vendors and roughly 590 instructors..... I mean seriously fire service events, FDIC is 84 years of excellence, tradition and integrity, now that my friend is an event!

And friends please forgive me for bragging about FDIC but I hope to see all of you there in March I couldn't resist the opportunity to give my good friend Paul hard time. I am well aware that there are many other fine fire service events held throughout the year, but the one event that we all can agree is the bellwether, is the granddaddy, is the one that we never miss it is FDIC. This year it will be bigger and better than ever, this year there are more events more classes more of everything that makes FDIC the unique experience that it has been for 84 years. Thanks for let me brag about a show that I am honored to be a very small and insignificant part of.
