Where firefighters come to talk training

So as you know from my last posting that I have taken a break from firefighting. Well after I have my surgery on December 1st and recover from rehab and such I have decided to return to the department. At the age of 21 I have seen a lot of things people twice my age will never imagine of seeing, but even with that, my heart is in being a firefighter. So around the summer season of 2010 I will be returning and be back where I belong and this time it's for good. It feels so good to know I will be back again. The only part that sucks is having to wait, but oh well. I'd rather wait and return then never come back at all. So everyone please hope my surgery and rehab go great so I can return to the department with no physical problems that would keep me from the job. Thank you. You guys are great, all of you.

Good on ya! That's what it takes for some folks. You walk away. And then the engine goes by, or you see a story in the paper, or you hear a distant siren and you realize how misplaced you feel. When I was about your age, a little older maybe, we were coming back from the biggest incident I have ever been a part of. I was exhausted, hadn't slept for over a day and half and my mind was racing with all the things I'd been a part of on that call. Then it dawned on me, I'd been half-assing the job. I hadn't really given myself over to it, until that day. I knew right then that I would never seek another profession. Press on Cossey, devote yourself!
