Where firefighters come to talk training

Emotional Intelligence and Mental Markers

I am doing some research on the above and I would like to hear from anyone who has experience with either Emotional Intelligence training or developing training geared towards creating measurable mental markers. Our city did some EI training and I believe it has real value for fire service decision making and risk management.

Scott,
This sound really interesting. I have a vague idea of what EI is, as explained to me by a psychologist friend of mine, and I think it is very important in figuring out event sequences that lead to LOD injuries and deaths. Check out the Command Safety group. Chris Naum has posted a joint study of LOD injuries put out by the USFA and IAFF. One of the things it points out is while technology and training are getting better attitudes toward safety are not. The report is interesting. Good luck and if I see anything that looks useful I'll send it your way.

Thanks Chris I will check it out. You are correct....my goal is to address both training and attitude and the decision making process based on EI. Be Safe Brother.
