Obviously this is a little self-promotion, but I have my own website for pipe & drum supplies. I give a discount to all firefighters. Just be sure if you order from me, to email me first and I will send you a coupon code to put in.

I am still adding products, so keep checking back!

I have always wanted to learn to play the pipes and so I am now pursuing it. I ordered my practice chanter from Tartan Thistle for $117 and received it the other day but I will remember to check with you the next time. I am hoping to learn and be one of the few if not the only firefighter in the state of Alaska to be a firefighter/piper for the honor guard.

Thanks for the link
That's awesome. If you have any questions, let us know! Good luck
Utili Kilts

Kilts for the Manly men...LOL

Even have beer gut cut....now that's ingenuity!
The pipes are one of the hardest instruments to learn to play, especially when you do not have a mentor/instructor. Even making a sound come out of them is a huge accomplishment. Stick with it though, you will be frustrated at times, you will feel that your stuck on a plateau some days, but with daily practice, even just 15 minutes, you can make great strides and have a feeling of great accomplishment. It's is a lot like firefighting, hard work, lots of fun, a feeling of honor, and remember if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
Thanks...It figures that I would have to pick the hardest thing to learn to play. The good thing is that I have a few guys in the Red Hackle band up here who are going to give me lessons for 20 a piece. The one guy is Scottish named Angus...so who better to learn from!

The hard part will be like you said making it sound like I am actually making progress and then affording the pipes and ensamble later on. Geez and I thought my firefighting and outdoors habits were expensive....?
