Where firefighters come to talk training

Just wondering how other places assign members to apparatus for the shift. Is it by seniority or qualifications. Is it permanent or does it rotate. If it rotates, how often do you rotate. Responses from cross-trained fire based EMS would be helpful. Looking at manning an Engine(3), Truck(3) and Medic(2) with 8 members. Of course, the officers are in the front seat, but what about drivers, back step and the medic.
Thanks gang

Robert,
Is your truck a Tower or a Heavy Ladder rig? Is your Medic lock down or can it's crew go to a working fir. I've got to tell you, 3 on a Truck is a really short crew for everything that Truckies do. If it's a tower with a waterway, you need two guys just to run water.
Hey Larry-
The Medic crew act as firefighters and usually do truck work...as long as nobody is flopping on the front lawn. FYI our general alarm response is 3 engines and 3 trucks and 1 additional ladder for RIT on a working incident. And all Co's are in close proximity. Out truck is a 95' e-one Tower Ladder, no pump - it also does all auto extrication. The other 2 trucks are 95' towers also with pumps. Auto aide at its finest! We have a very efficient deployment of manpower for all of the incoming companies. Just looking for how others assign manpower to the companies.

Robert We rotate our ride assignments for every 24 hr. shift that we work. So you my be riding the bus today ten the next shift you may be driving the engine. Then you may be riding on the trk.the next shift. We also have to cover more than one rig, during the day during the week if you are on te ambulance you are also on the ladder, and if your on the eng. you also cover the rescue. We also do this with three on the eng, rescue and two on the ambulance, truck. We also have a medic in a fly car and a captian another. We have 7 guys on during the day during the week, and a min.of eight nights and weekends. We have four houses one has two eng. a ladder and an ambulance that is covered by two guys during the day during the week then it is covered by the vol. the other house has four during the day during the week and only two nights and weekends it has two eng.and an ambulance. The last house has two guys 24/7 with two eng. We cover about 28 miles and we have about 5,000 calls a year. sorry for any typos just finished a 36 and tired
