Thanks for joining CSF (common Sense firefighting) It's a decison making and leadership page on the site. Jump into any of the discussions at any time. There are some good ones going right now. Where is Olathe Fire Department and how many guys do you get on the first due alarm?
How's Olathe? A mile north of you, it's slow. I'm a new trustee with Wheat State FOOLS. We are having meeting on Jan. 20 at 1900 @ Johnny's off of Ridgeview. If have any ? don't be afair to ask me. Stay safe brother
Thanks for your kind wods. As for our policy regarding class A uniforms, it is our desire that when one of our members is representing our Department at a function, that they wear their class A. Maybe not at a picnic or the like, but at funerals (job related or not, especially for a brother or sister's family member to show respect) banquets, awards ceremonies, speaking engagements, etc., any time we want to put our best foot forward we encourage it. All Department members including our Reserves have class A uniforms. We don't want them wearing them for court dates or anywhere where we could suffer an image jab, and as for functions that involve alcohol, we would rather they not partake. That doesn't mean for example when one of us gives a keynote at a banquet and the attendees are drinking alcohol, we don't as long as we are wearing our class A. No reflection on anyone else that does, that's just us.
We want our members to understand that the uniform is more than just a funeral uniform. That it stands for a lot more. It represents our heritage, our history and those who served proudly before us and sacraficed. It's bigger than any of us and should be worn with the respect and dignity that it deserves. If we can get them to keep that in mind, then we really don't need an SOP. They'll do the right thing!!
