Transmission Tuesday:
Ever see this face in the crowd when discussing MAYDAY events and when to call one?
~What's your departments verbiage of when to call a MAYDAY?
~What do you use as your "MAYDAY" parameters?
ARE THEY THE SAME, SIMILAR or WAY DIFFERENT?
My department uses "IOUMMPL" or remembered as "I Owe You My Miserably Pathetic Life.
I - Imminent Collapse
O - Occurred Structural Collapse
U - Unconscious or Life Threatening Injury to Member
M - Missing Member (of your crew)
M - Missing Member Located
P - Personal Safety System (PSS) Deployment
L - Lost / Trapped Member
If you don't give your people the knowledge of when YOU expect them to call a mayday, how can YOU expect them to call one at all? Please share YOUR departments parameters for when to call a MAYDAY with the rest of our friends.
