Where firefighters come to talk training

HERE WE GO!!!   It is that time of year again where 30,000 plus like minded progressive brothers converge in Indianapolis.  The trek for many is an annual pilgrimmage. Meeting up with old friends or making new connections within our industry.  The best part of the journey is the stories. All of us have a story to tell.  For most of us FDIC is an opportunity to recharge our mentally drained batteries. The daily grind of providing the best possible service to Mrs. Jones or dealing with internal and external politics of the business.  FDIC is an opportunity to network with some of the greatest leaders in the industry. From H.O.T. programs for which you can't find anywhere else, to the best of the best classroom presenters in the world. There is something for everyone in Indy.   By far the greatest asset about FDIC is the concept of providing information for which can be brought back to your department.  "Training the Best for the Rest" Thats right, I am talking about you!

If you are coming to FDIC remember to capitolize on the diversity of the instructors. I highly suggest you take a moment and map out your journey.  With the incredible line up of instructors that FDIC offers, shooting from the hip is not a viable option.  Mapping your classes and vendors before you arrive will maximize not only your time but your learning experiences / opportunities.  On the road to life, success often has many roadblocks to overcome. The layout of the 2014 Fire Department Instructor's Conference is right there on the table for your taking.... What are you going to do with it?

Take a moment after a class to pick the brain of your instructor, all of us are there for one reason.... to provide the best chance for each and everyone of us to succeed in this profession!  Whether you are paid, paid on call or 100% volunteer, when we as a profession band together as a brotherhood there is nothing we can't overcome.

As I make my final preparations for my journey (tweaking my material and packing up some training props) I must say.. travel safe my friends and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible for this years greatest firefighter convention in the world. And maybe raise a glass or two while we network.
