Bio:
I started in the fire service as a volunteer cadet with a small fire protection district at the age of 15. Since then I have become a Fire Captain with the Yuba City Fire Department. I am currently assigned to Engine Co. 3 in the Southside of Yuba City. I have been with Yuba City for 9 years and am on several of the specailized teams. I am a proud member of the NorCal chapter of the FOOLS International and try to pass on as much information and knowledge as possible. I feel that all members of the fire service should maintain this tradition of passing on the knowledge that has been given to us from members of past generations.
I have also been appointed as the Executive Vice President of the FOOLS International.
We must continue to train ourselves and our troops as much as possible.

Everyday is a Training Day!!!

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy the site.

Welcome brother I am sure you find this site one of the best on the net. It is a great place to find new ideas and to share your ideas . We can always learn from someone else in this line of work .

Please allow me to invite you to a site designed by responders for responders... the crew that is doing it is CISM multilevel trained and are there for the guys after the bad calls. It helps the responders that do not yet have a team or would be worried that they asking for help would be seen as weakness. Please join and share it when you can. As a chaplain with over 25 years of service to fire departments I am excited with it's potential to provide support.

Good to see you made Captain. Heard it's been quite busy there in Yuba City. This site is pretty cool. Can't wait for it to grow. See you around and be safe!

Hey Brother, I saw some postings on HazMat, being a HazMat Instructor it caught my Eye. In Ohio A Hazmat Specialist is a support person for a Tech in a particular area ie rail car, amonia, and so on..... Here is goes 4 hours awareness, 16 hours Operations, 40 hours Tech, 16 hours Specialist, and 16 hours commander. It should progress in those levels, hoever depending how you interpet the CFR (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120) you really do not even need to progress in those levels. Of course tradionally in the fire service you take it in steps. I hope you didn't mind me butting in. Remember be safe and train as training will save lives.

    Eric:

Can't say enough 'bout Brother Berg. I love that guy beyond words and I'm not ashamed to say it. He has really helped to make that class exactly what it was meant to be. I put some class photos up on the Main page for this site. You may have already seen them.

Yuba City? That's up North I believe. I started out in Orange County many moons ago.

    Take Care Brother,

    Ben - KTF
  • Chad Berg

    Hey Hankins,

Does this mean that I'm one of those "my space" kind of folks? Oh well, Fleagle, you, Halton, Lasky, and some other good names are on here, so it couldn't be that bad! I hope all is well in Nor Cal brother, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in a couple of months!
    Stay safe brother!
  • Chad Berg

I'm counting the days..............on my stubbled knuckly fingers.

  • Chad Berg

    Thank you Hankins.
  • Lisa Fairfield

Eric, a copy of the Mayday lesson plans would be great. Much appreciated.
  • Chad Berg

Hankins, congrats on your appointment to Vice President of the FOOLS International. I love it!
You can count on us following you and we got your back brother. Way to go!
  • Rob Fisher

Hey brother...thanks for the posting on my page. I'm trying to figure out how this "X-Gen" communication stuff works. Just as I was beginning to be able to text and do some cool advance emailing stuff, they come out with another thing for me to learn. When's it going to end?

Congrats on the VP spot! Hey...you should have just asked to come to the Founding FOOLS / Executive Board / Convention Committee party at my condo the first night and I would have let you come. You didn't have to become the VP to get an invite.

    See you soon brother!
  • Chad Berg

Only 2+ weeks away from the Convention. Can you believe it. It seemed like a couple of months ago, we were on the boardwalk in Jersey saying...."Sure, lets give it a shot!"
Looking forward to seeing you guys.
  • Chad Berg

Travel safe, and we can't wait to see your Mug!
We are fired up to be able to play hosts to all of you guys. Man, this is gonna be a great time. You boys in our yard!
  • Rusty Ricker

Brutha man, how goes the battle?

Yeah, one guy for a HOT class wasn't doin' it for us. We've still got OG doing a lecture 'cause we'd already paid out to rent the hall. Oh well, we tried summer, guess we'll stick to Spring!

We'll all be down there in Oct, love to see ya'.

Have fun with Sippy this week! He's all yours!

Brother: We didn't get to talk much, but the few words said went far. It was good to get to know you a bit, and I look forward to working with whenever the need arises, chapter to chapter or with the International. I don't know you well, but I know that the E-Board really believes in you. That is good enough for me, ...lead on brother.
