Where firefighters come to talk training

I am looking for some information on commendation bars. I have done some searching online and have found a couple FD's that wear the commendation bars on their Class A uniforms. They have different ribbons for different awards. What does your dept have for ribbons and do they represent? Thanks

Darin,

Have you seen any NYPD officers lately? They wear more commendation bars than the the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon.

I would consider the wearing of commendation bars as very positive. They reflect the recognition of actions performed by the bearer; honest heroic actions - rescue, etc. They are not worn as ego showoffs.

Here in Europe it is quite normal that firefighters' actions are recognized by medals, commendations, etc., and they are worn with pride.
Darin,
Did you rec any greaet information on this project? I am going to present this to our Chief's Office also, and would like to know how yours came out.

Darin, i see you are asking for some information on commendation bars. Our deaprtment is also wanting to implement this program, I was wandering if maybe you could share what you have gotten. If you can help me out let me know i can give you a fax number or if you can email it to me that would be great also.

Thanks
