Barry,
We dont have a set SOP on what to carry, its dependant on which due ladder you are. For example the first due truck for us is responsible for forcible entry for the Engine and starting the primary search, so the officer carries the camera and a tool. Some of the bosses will carry the flat head others carry thier own officers tool. The backstep man will then carry a Haligan or the Irons dependant on what the officer takes, and the rabbit tool and K-Tool which are in a bag together. The chauffer normally stays in the street to make a set for the second due truck which is responsible for ventilation. If the chauffer does go in he normally takes a hook and sometimes the can. The second due trucks equipment varies on what type of building it is and whether thier going to the roof or just taking out windows. We used to split the truck crews but a few years ago the Chief made a change in our SOP's so that each truck stays together for the most part and works as a functional unit. Hope that helps.

In the FDNY "militia" we ride with five firefighters and an officer per truck company. My inside team consists of myself(officer's tool & camera),can man(2 1/2 gal can and 6'hook) and my irons man (axe, halligan, rabbitt tool). My roof man carries a 6'hook, halligan and life saving rope. The Outside Vent carries and halligan and hook and basically operates out of the bucket for ves. The Chauffeur will either man the pedestal or fill in the voids. Hope that helps out....
