Where firefighters come to talk training

If you haven't heard, the Defiance Fire Dept. had a fire in our fire station. We did not had have a detection system in the apparatus bay. Had the fire happened at night, I do not know if we would have been alerted in time to get ourselves out. I want to know, Does your fire dept have a detection system in it's apparatus bay? Have you thought about this issue?

Hey Ed - our new stations are completely sprinklered and we have cooking suppression systems over our stoves. They must not trust our cooking :) Once all of our stations (4) are replaced in a few years, all will be covered, a shining example to the public on how things should be done. And we did it kicking and screaming about it all the way.
Stay Safe Brother!
Our department has Smoke dectors located throughtout the House, and are Zoned off . We have them go off due to Brunt food , and belts burning in the Air units. No sprinklers . But as soon as the Alarm goes off it activates our pagers and siren and the Police call my Phone.
