Don't try to reinvent the wheel, Jim Mason argues in the first installment of his series on fire service leadership. Learn how a knowledge of past incidents can improve your ability to lead on the fireground.
What are you doing to ensure that you and your crew go home every shift? Brian Ward suggests spending some time reviewing free Web resources can give you the knowledge to keep you safe.
Does your department have a plan for what to do if a technological device, like a TIC or your PASS device, fails on the fireground? Send us your replies for possible publication in the print magazine.

Just thought I'd check in on you. How's things at the department? I see by your photo's that Bruno has been by. Did he mention his story about his daughter's method of getting engineers to observe traffic lights? Good story that.
May you enjoy a Merry Christmas, and always be safe!
I think I am in for three days, I am up for whatever you guys have in mind!
See you soon
Bobby
Got your note. I've been swamped at home past two days and didn't get near a PC until late last night. Thank you for your return remarks, and as I said earlier, please feel free to vent in my direction! My personal mentor is some 3000 miles away. Doesn't stop us from working together.
What is important is that you reached out. You aren't giving up. Nothing more depressing than to see those probies overwhelmed by the fog of unmotivated, uninspired leadership. You can change that! We got your back, I mean it!

I just left you a massive diatribe on the Mentoring Post. I hope you don't mind reading the whole thing. I think I actually wrote more, but it used to much space. Anyway, I 've been were you are, at about the same age.
We got your back!
