We send our guys to the state academy for recruit training which is 18 weeks long and covers, FF1, FF2, Haz-mat tech, Tech Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Codes, Wild land FF, EVOC, Ladder ops, Truck co ops, Pump operator, building const etc, thats just off the top of my head, and we were all required to hold our emt. On the flip side of it my old volunteer dept required that to be on the scene you had to have a minimum of scene support, for any interior ops you were required to thave a bare minimum of FF1 along with a good standing and good evals from the trainers at the monthly drills. To keep your interior cert you were required to attend x number of drills each year. Extra classes for continued education were always encouraged but in these days and times it was hard to be able to get people to do a lot of classes on their own time. I hope I answered what you were asking. Take care and stay safe
Our Department is a combination department, we do two hours of daily training and four hours of monthly training. Firefighters must attend at least one two hour training every month and complete the daily training while on duty. We also have some out side mandatory training ( rit, live fire drills, water movement....). We try to encourage to do as much training as possible. Take care!
