Mike you know as well as others this is an art form I have down well. Really though I responded because I don't want to be a lilly livered, pond scum wallowing, bull butter snivelling, dung heap!

I was also taught stand under the ladder to heal it, 75 degree climbing angle, 4 man raise ( when most our rigs have 3 FF's ) and so on.

I have never understood the need to mask up in-route. A fire fighter thats knows his equipment well should be able to put his mask on, go on air, helmet and gloves back on quickley. Never have timed this but can't see it taking more than 15-20 sec...

"My knuckle dragging brethren (like Scotty K) . . ."

Feel the love! Your reputation precedes you I see!

Your comments about PPV & PPA are good. Of course, anything done incorrectly or without understanding the theory AND science is dangerous. INCLUDING vertical ventilation! Gravity has a way of reinforcing that one.

Cheers!
