Small Town Tactics and Tools

Small Town Tactics and Tools is a group designed to help firefighters who protect rural and suburban areas. As the name suggests, we discuss tactics and tools and everything in between including training, leadership, manpower and water struggles, current fire events, and science. Profile Information

Lives in:
Oliver Springs, TN
Knoxville Fire Department/ Oliver Springs Fire Department
Sr. Firefighter(KFD) / Assistant Fire Chief (OSFD)
Years of public service:
Agency structure:
Paid fire department
Top issues in your department:
Training and funding are the top issues in both the departments. In my volunteer department we are starting to have a recruitment of new members issue due to tough economic times.
Professional Qualifications:
FF II, Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Tech, Paramedic, Extrication Tech, Rope Rescue Tech, ACI State Instructor, Certified live fire instructor, B.S. Fire Administration.
Topics you provide training for:
Basic firefighting along with engine and truck company operations.
Areas of expertise:
I do not consider myself an expert in anything as I am always learning something new.
I joined the fire service at 16 as an Explorer. At the age of 18 I transferred onto the sponsoring departments roster as a paid on call firefighter. In the 15 years I have been with OSFD I have progressed up the ranks to my current position as the departments training officer and Assistant Fire Chief.
I got hired on my fulltime fire department in 2007. I currently hold the position of Sr. Firefighter/Paramedic (assistant driver). I am assigned to Engine 3.

In the time I have been in the fire service I strive to always learn and improve myself to better prepare me as a firefighter when I respond to a citizens call for help.
