Profile Information

Lives in:
Port Jervis/Poughkeepsie
Department:
Port Jervis Fire Department
Title/rank:
FireFighter
Years of public service:
5
Agency structure:
Volunteer fire department
Top issues in your department:
Active membership has got to be the major issue. All volly departments probably have this same problem. They have members who do not show up for anything!!
Professional Qualifications:
Still a young person but some of the qualifications I do have is basic firefighter, intermediate firefighter, haz-mat repsonder ops, ice rescue, avet, fire behavior and arson awareness, NIMs, firefighter survival. I plan on doing more training when I have time
Areas of expertise:
I'm still young so I don't have any expertise and will never be an expert because thats impossible to be an expert. I am willing to learn from people who have been around and have been through it all. Anything I can learn is important to me because it will help me better myself in the future.
Bio:
I'm Preston and I love being a firefighter. It is something that I have always want to do since i was young child. Once my dad joined I was always going to the firehouse with him and just loved it even more. I just love the rush I get going into a burning building. I am currently attending Dutchess Community College and majoring in fire science. I enjoy going to school there and if you knew me growing up in high school i am not the school type of person. I hope one day to be a career firefighter. I have taken a few test's already including the FDNY and a few departments in Virginia like City of Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta County, Rockingham County.
