Family man and recently Promoted to Lieutenant. I am also the "Medic" on our department's Extrication team with TERC.
I have served in the Air National Guard for 6 years as a firefighter and before that, I served 4 years active duty in the US Coast Guard as a Damage Controlman 2nd Class. I was stationed on the CGC Polar Sea, then to Station Yaquina Bay, OR.
While there, I volunteered with Newport Fire & Rescue before moving to Portland where I went to school and interned with Estacada RFPD…
I'm great my friend, obviously congrats are in order on your new baby, I see Brother Ben's comment. I'm on vacation until mid-November, even better Brother! Join in the conversations in Pandora's Box, keep us talking.
Congratulations on your baby! Fatherhood is an incredible thing. I have 4 myself. Continue to be strong for those around you and you're right, people move on and times change. The fortitude you put forth in pursuing a goal of service will pay dividends. We are not always there to see the results of such labor, but it has its affect nonetheless.
Just thought I'd check in on you. How's things at the department? I see by your photo's that Bruno has been by. Did he mention his story about his daughter's method of getting engineers to observe traffic lights? Good story that.
May you enjoy a Merry Christmas, and always be safe!
Got your note. I've been swamped at home past two days and didn't get near a PC until late last night. Thank you for your return remarks, and as I said earlier, please feel free to vent in my direction! My personal mentor is some 3000 miles away. Doesn't stop us from working together.
What is important is that you reached out. You aren't giving up. Nothing more depressing than to see those probies overwhelmed by the fog of unmotivated, uninspired leadership. You can change that! We got your back, I mean it!
I just left you a massive diatribe on the Mentoring Post. I hope you don't mind reading the whole thing. I think I actually wrote more, but it used to much space. Anyway, I 've been were you are, at about the same age.
We are excited to have you participate in our discussions and interactive forums. Before you begin posting, please take a moment to read our policy page HERE. -- Bobby Halton
