Where firefighters come to talk training

The Sunday Preach

Is The Grass Always Greener?

After spending the last two days out of state on manicured green grass soccer fields, another parents and I began to start to compare and contrast the places we have traveled too. Some nearby, some afar... in the end, there was no place like home.

Likewise, many of us in the fire service take time to peruse other fire departments than the one's we are working with.

It made us reflect on what we wrote in our acknowledgements on page IX.

"This book is a culmination of ideas formed from our years of exposure to great individuals in the fire service, far too many to mention individually. So many experienced leaders, mentors, teammates, confidants, brothers, and sisters to glean information from. We were fortunate to have been surrounded by such a great group of firefighters and fire officers throughout our careers."

Exposing and challenging yourself to differing opinions, points of view and different ways of doing things... will definitely make your "grass at home" that much greener.
