Where firefighters come to talk training

We reap what we sow: Every day is a new chance to build up your department.

To the Choir,

One of the greatest satisfactions that I get as a Chief officer is the opportunity to help build up the future leadership of our department. Every day that I put on the unifrom affords another (often several) opportunities to mentor/coach a company officer or firefighter. This deliberate, progressive pattern of passing on the knowledge, skills and abilities that were freely afforded to me as I came up, is imperative to preserving traditions, values, organizational knowledge, and continuity of services as we move in a forward direction. Simultaneously, and equally important, is allowing our folks to bring added value to all of those areas as well. Each member can add to the fabric of our service, if we foster a climate of opportunity for sowing (sic).

You must actively look for those opportunities. Every call for service is an opportunity to empower a firefighter to step up and show what they can do. Every trainiing day is an opportunity to push the limits of our talented staff to a new level of achievment and foster ingenuity. The leadership, YOU, must provide the climate and opportunity for success. Added value comes from unselfish leadership - share what you have, provide the stage and allow people to shine!
