Where firefighters come to talk training

The Sunday Preach

"Click it"

Look in the mirror, in the end... you are responsible for the choices you make.

In our personal vehicles, we would never think to drive or ride without a seatbelt securely fastened... How is it that in the rig, we think it's not required?

"The safe response is paramount and cannot be understated. The chauffeur and the company officer are equally responsible for that safe response. Be certain to wear your seatbelt. Many firefighters are killed and seriously injured responding to alarms. Assist the company officer in setting the tone for the safe response of all members by buckling up. If the apparatus doesn’t make the scene, no one gets to do any work." (Pg 227).

Like anything, it takes time and practice to master donning your PPE and utilizing your seat belt. It is well worth the time and effort. Ask anyone who has been involved in an apparatus accident... driving or on the backstep, it can forever change you as an individual.
