As I prepare for another weekend of travel teaching Tactical Extrication, I am already thinking of how much I will miss my wife and two young children. While traveling, this feeling arrives like clockwork. Then I had an epiphany. My thoughts instantly went to our troops and their families. I am leaving for a couple days to teach something that I am very passionate about, as I truly believe it saves lives. However, I cannot fathom the feeling of leaving my family to be deployed for an unknown amount of time in a dangerous and unknown location. This thought hit me hard and with that I want to relay an upmost respect for OUR troops AND their families. With that said I want to challenge all of my Tactical Advantage followers and fire service friends to share your prayers and well wishes to deployed soldiers today. However, it does not end there. Think of those sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, mothers, and fathers who have spent time away from their love ones for our freedom! Yes…OUR FREEDOM! When you are comfortably driving in your vehicle or snuggled close to your families at night, let us remember them and the sacrifices they make DAILY! I truly feel that I owe a debt of gratitude to the troops who have paid the ultimate price, and to those who return from the battlefield. May you all take a moment and think of our soldiers, their families, and our freedom that we so often take for granted.
Be strong and courageous, for the lord will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
