I am thankful for the opportunity to blog on Fire Engineering. This is my first blog post.
My name is Warren Cersley (Kers-lee) and I have been a Fireman for just over thirty-nine years. I came through the ranks in Richmond, Virginia where I currently serve as a Battalion Chief, a position I have held since 1986. When I write that it sure sounds like a long time, but I have enjoyed the people business, the fire service, so much that it seems like only yesterday.
My goal is to pay it forward, give thanks, to those who have helped me along the way, they are too numerous to name. After all, Firefighting is a team sport.
In a Facebook page I manage entitled IN THESE BOOTS and here in the blog if I write something important or memorable that inspires one young person, a new fire officer or even a veteran who is making a career adjustment - we all win.
My stories may be unusual to some. I don't do technical stuff but I try to focus on family, life, leaders, teams, winners, pride and brotherhood with an occasional best practice or a "how to" thrown in just for seasoning.
I hope you enjoy it.
Have a great day - it's a GREAT day for it.
Warren Cersley
