A Fireman loaned has been returned!

It is with a heavy heart and deep saddness that I inform everyone of the Passing Of Micheal DeVaughn Asst. Chief (Ret.) of the Eielson AFB FD, Alaska. Chief DeVaughn had a huge impact on the fire service in Interior Alaska in the early 70's and up until his retirement last year. He was very active in his community and loved to watch his oldest son coach the Eielson Ravens HS football team. Chief was a huge advocate for fire prevention and fire safety throughout his time at Eielson serving as… Continue

A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE UNIVERSITY FD

I know that we are often sad and overcome by the events that happen to us and change our lives forever especially when it involves someone so loved, admired and close to us. I want to personally thank and applaud the outstanding efforts of the staff and students of the University FD for their relentless drive and long hours they all put in to make a fallen brothers celebration of life a very memorable and encouraging one for us all. I think everyone there felt that had a role to play in the… Continue

Alaska Firefighters pay tribute to Battalion Chief Phil Rounds University of Alaska FD

Wow what can we say about Chief Wonderful? We had a great celebration of his life through out the week and on Saturday. He will be forever in our hearts and on our minds as we continue to carry on the task that he has always held so near and dear to his heart. Chief Rounds will forever be remembered for his love of the job by all those he touched in whatever he did.

Happy Thanksgiving

In a time of uncertainty and grief in our lives and in our country I hope that we can all remember why it is important to be thankful to God for all that He has given us and left us to take charge of in our country and in the absence or a loved one or friend who has left us the torch to continue the job at hand.

I am thankful for a website community like this where we can come together and share our thoughts, training and lives.

This year I am very thankful to God… Continue

Paying Tribute

To a Brother, Mentor, Friend and Chief who too many of us was an honorary dad. It is sad to think of a fellow Brother in the Fire Service as what was and what has and what could have. You see the only thing we are asked to do is to pick up where they left off and do the right thing in hope that we can somehow fill some huge boots that are now empty. We must remember and never forget one's dedication, one's sacrifices to the public, to one's family and to us and the lessons taught to us to carry… Continue

Needing Prayers

Hi everyone I created a group called Our Family in Need . It's a group where anyone can list and share requests for helping our own in need or prayers and condolences for our Brothers and Sisters in the Fire Service and their immediate families. What I listed below is also in my new group.

I have a friend who is a Battalion Chief in a local fd. He has been fighting a good fight with cancer and just got sick and is now in the hospital for the last few days. It appears they have not… Continue

Glad to be here!

Thanks everyone for being here on the fire Engineering Community and graciously adding me as your friend.

I am glad to be here and hoping to learn even more by adding this tool 2 my tool box.

Thanks again for all the information and I look forward to getting more involved here as time goes by. I also want you to know that if anyone has questions about fighting fire in Alaska, especially here in the Interior where it gets down to -50, just ask.
