Subsequent to his investigation of a Fire at a NATO base he created a Fire Department on the base. Utilizing and training soldiers as firefighters and by taking advantage of the closing of many U.S. military installations in Europe to acquire fire equipment, he was able to create a fully functional Fire Service at almost zero cost.
In 1992 joined the United Nations in Bosnia. Triozzi’s role was to assist the Sarajevo Fire Service and when firefighters came under fire from snipers and mortars to coordinate their protection from U.N. Peacekeeping troops. in 1999 he was appointed United Nations Fire Chief operating as part of UN Security and the Political Administration of Kosovo as part of UNMIK. He put together an international team of fire officers eventually representing 9 countries on 3 continents to reorganize the service, train fireifghters and command fire and emergency operations. Chief Triozzi was able to turn the poorly equipped and ill-prepared Kosovo firefighters into a professional uniformed force of 500 men. In addition, he was successful in making Serbs and Albanians work together.
After serving 26 months in Kosovo, at the end of 2001 United Nations Fire Rescue was dissolved.
