Bio:
I am a nineteen year veteran of Everett Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic. In 2011 I contracted malignant melanoma on my upper left scapula and had it removed. In January of 2014 I was diagnosed with metastasized melanoma in the brain. I went through whole brain radiation, pinpoint radiation and immunotherapy. In early 2016 I had two back to back craniotomies. First one to remove the tumor that had grown back and the second to remove the infection that had returned to my brain. I am blessed by the LORD above to be cancer free and still have function and be able to be with my Family.

Due to restrictions, I can no longer provide instruction for my class but do recommend John Gillen who manufactures the safest restraint systems that I personally implemented in real world scenarios and incorporated into my training. His website is www.gillenindustries.com.

I am also including a link to my blog where I had discussed issues pertaining to Excited Delirium Syndrome, Fire/EMS transport and Law Enforcement interaction.

I have provided instruction to the entire department in the safe handling of combative patients. I am a Fire Engineering author and 2009 FDIC instructor on the subject of tactics for combative patients. I have taught these same tactics to students of the Harborview Paramedic Program in Seattle Washington as well as local EMS conferences to as many as 200 attendees. In the Army, I volunteered for 2nd Ranger Battalion and successfully completed the U.S. Army Ranger School. While serving, I provided hand to hand instruction, field first aid, survival and the use of squad and platoon tactics to privates all the way up to Generals including Commanders and Dignitaries from foreign countries.
