Title/rank:
Firefighter / Paramedic
Years of public service:
20
Agency structure:
Combination fire department
Top issues in your department:
My department is a small (30 employees), but rapidly growing department. I guess you could say it has the typical small department issues. I have to give credit where it is due, for the rapid growth they have stepped up and are laying the ground work for a great department to continue years down the road.

Continued respect between both parties Vol. and Career
Safety (always)
Transition into more fire related activities from EMS
Professional Qualifications:
Firefighter Instructor, Fire Officer, Nat. Reg. Paramedic
Topics you provide training for:
Firefighter, Mayday FF Down
Areas of expertise:
I don't really have any expertise. I look at my self a well rounded street junkie. I have worked for small departments, med. size departments, training divsion, communications. I am still learning everyday.

My areas of pure enjoyment are:
Teaching, EMS, Heavy Rescue, Water Rescue, and working with others.
Bio:
I have been involved in fire and rescue for 20 years now. 14 years career. I started as that lonely EMT riding in back. I branched off into the areas of special services (water rescue, rope, veh. extrication). I continue to this day with EMS, but have moved more towards teaching firefighters basics and safety, survival, and supervisory type work.

I enjoy everyday when I have to report in. I love the people I work with and enjoy now working again for a small department that is rapidly growing. Some of the growing pains will drive you up the wall, but when I look out the window as I drive down the to the next emergency I think "It could be worse"!
