Lives in:
Yelm, WA
Department:
Bald Hills Fire Dept., TCFPD 17
Title/rank:
Chief
Years of public service:
2 as the Department Chief plus 7 as a volunteer firefighter.
Agency structure:
Volunteer fire department
Top issues in your department:
We're an organization that has re-kindled from 6 members to over 45. We have a few experienced members along with a majority that are new to the fire service. We are a rural department isolated in the corner of our County, bordered by undeveloped Weyerhaeuser forestland to the South and the Nisqually River to the East.
The Department is acquiring new equipment, implementing sound policies and expanding our training program. We are challenged by the conflicting schedules of training, families and employment.
Bio:
Naval reservist and former volunteer, I'm proud and honored to serve my community. I believes we have the responsibility to do our best to protect and to serve the citizens of our Fire District and therefore it is vital that we are trained volunteers who are committed to serving faithfully, professionally and compassionately.

“I strongly encourage you to actively work to improve your knowledge and skills in our operations by attending as many training sessions and emergency incidents as possible. You will build confidence in your abilities and in those with whom you serve. I believe you will find reward in the knowledge you gain. I also believe you will develop courage through training and execution of that knowledge. You will be prepared to help and will make a difference when we are needed most.

G********,

Please allow me to invite you to a site designed by responders for responders... the crew that is doing it is CISM multilevel trained and are there for the guys after the bad calls. It helps the responders that do not yet have a team or would be worried that they asking for help would be seen as weakness. Please join and share it when you can. As a chaplain with over 25 years of service to fire departments I am excited with it's potential to provide support.
