That would be awesome so we can put it in the dayroom. It's Bldg. 1060 Gaffney Rd. # 3800 Ft. Wainwright Alaska 99703. I also have a picture of the newspaper article. I believe this is an article from the Fairbanks Daily Newsminer I also took video of a friend of Donalds whom we met last summer on a wildland mission talking about the fire that day in 1971.
Elizabeth,
Thanks so much to you for the pictures of your cousin Donald. Many of us now can put a face to our brother who left very large boots to fill for his heroic acts here on Ft. Wainwright on April 27th 1971.
If you click on the links, there are pictures attached I hope! The first is a picture I took holding the "Fire & Ice" sculpture in front of the dedication plaque on our main fire station. The "Fire & Ice" sculpture is one of a only a few ever produced and was given to the department by Capt. Robert Scott Hunt upon his retirement. Joe Cipri, a Denver firefighter, created a few replicas of the life size statue of "Fire & Ice for the Alaska Firefighters Memorial in Anchorage. The "Fire and Ice" statue with the Patriot Flag at the Anchorage FD just a few weeks ago and the recently relocated Firefighters Memorial in the foreground where there is also a memorial dedication to Donald along with other Alaskan firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Our best to your and Donalds family.

Welcome Elizabeth,
Yes Donald Hyde has a fire station named after him here and it has been for a long time. His name was also included this year on the Alaska Firefighters memorial in Anchorage. What we are looking for are some pictures of him from when he was here or before then.
Thanks
