The Calexico Fire Department faces several major issues in relation to its operations. First the City of Calexico provides services to a tax base community of 38,000, but is faced with the daily influx of up to 100,000 people through its ports of entry. This obviously taxes services. Previously, proper planning and vision for the future of the department were largely ignored. This allowed growth of the city without the department growing according to the city needs.

I possess the following certifications: Fire related – State of California Fire fighter I & II, Driver Operator 1A & 1B, Trench Rescue, Low Angle Rescue, Fire Command 1A & 1B, Fire Management I, Fire Investigation 1A & 1B, Fire Instructor 1A & 1B, Fire Prevention 1A & 1B, ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, Wildland S-190, S-290 and red card qualified, Hazmat FRO. EMS – Licensed Paramedic and Instructor, AHA – BLS Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, AHA – Instructor Trainer, PEPP Instructor, AHLS- Advance Hazmat Life Support Instructor. Junior College EMS adjunct facult and Fire Academy instructor. BS in Public Administration in progress.

Bio:
Cedric began his career with the Imperial County Fire Department as a Reserve Firefighter in 1992. Later he transferred to the City of Calexico Fire Department were he was a Reserve Firefighter for the next 5 years. In 1993 Cedric entered into Imperial Valley’s Paramedic Program and graduated in the summer of ’94 at the top of his class at the age of 20. Immediately he was offered employment with Blythe Ambulance Service and soon there after returned home to work for Gold Cross Ambulance Service. For the next 3 years he honed his skills to perfection and was offered a job full-time with the City of Calexico. Cedric was hired as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic in 1997 and in 2003 he was promoted to the position of Fire Captain. Concurrently, Cedric teaches at the local college as adjunct faculty for the Paramedic Program and is an instructor Imperial Valley Colleges Fire Academy.
