ADRIAN J. CALES is currently employed by Public Service Enterprise Group, the parent company of PSE&G; the nation’s fifth largest utility provider, in their Corporate Security Services Department. He recently retired after a law enforcement career in a large county arson investigation unit which served 69 municipalities in an area of over one million in population. He has been involved the area of fire investigation for more than twenty-five years. He has also been a member of the fire service since 1977, and served as Chief of the Paramus (NJ) Fire Department. In addition, he has served as the Chairman of the Bergen County (NJ) Law and Public Safety Institute Board, the Bergen County Fire Training and Education Advisory Board and the Bergen County Juvenile Fire Prevention Board. In addition to being an Instructor in fire investigation related topics at F.D.I.C. since 1997, he has developed and taught fire investigation related topics at Rutgers University (NJ), and Passaic (NJ) Community College, as well as to the police and fire services throughout New Jersey. He has testified numerous times in New Jersey Superior Court as an expert witness in fire investigation, fire scene origin as cause determination, and fire behavior. He is a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Standards for Professional Qualifications for Fire Marshals (NFPA 1037), and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Construction Best Practices Working Group.
